Perhaps some of you have noticed some oddity in Keyboard Menu, which is actually caused by a persistent bug in loginwinodw. Those who have a trouble with Flag menu -- vanishment or replacement of selected items, unexplicable emergence of unwanted items -- can try a workaround suggested by someone in Apple. It worked for me. 1. If you have keyboard layouts in /Users/youraccount/Library/Keyboard Layouts/ move them to /Library/Keyboard Layouts/ 2. Log out and log in as root; 3. Open System Preferences => International => Input Menu and enable keyboard layouts you want to use in your ordinary account (or just enable everything -- which I did not); 4. Log out and log back in as your ordinary account and, if Flag menu is different from your settings, set it up again. If you have not enabled root account yet, the easiest way would be... 1. Launch Terminal; 2. Type "sudo passwd root" without quotes and hit return; 3. You'll be asked to enter your admin password, so type it; 4. You'll be asked to enter root passoword *twice*, so type it. 5. Log out and login as root -- type "root" in Name field, the root password in Password field of Login panel and hit return. 2003 Kino
